Alice M. Rivlin is a woman who has achieved a variety of accomplishments in her life. Rivlin excelled in college and earned a bachelor’s degree from Bryn Mawr College, and at Radcliffe College she earned a master’s degree along with a doctorate in economics. With such a high education, it is no surprise that Rivlin got into politics early and held such a variety of positions (Alice M. Rivlin - Biography†). In fact one of her most pristine jobs later in her career was serving as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System from 1996 to 1999. During her early career, Rivlin worked at an assortment of places from nonprofits to high up government official positions. The job that began her career was at Brookings Institution, she would later go on to become Deputy Assistant Secretary at the US Department of Health, Education, and Welfare (HEW) where she was in charge of program communications. Following that, Rivlin was HEW’s Assistant Secretary for planning and evaluation but after parting from that job she returned to the Brookings Institution in 1969 (Alice M. Rivlin - Biography†). In the 1990’s at George Mason University, Rivlin became the First Professor of Public Policy and served as deputy director of the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
